I hung the crown molding in our Virginia house and here in our Washington house. I use a cant board behind the molding to have a secure nailing surface. The cant board has a 45 deg face that is about 1/4 inch behind the molding allowing me to put the molding seems wherever I want without fear of not having a solid nailing surface.
The curtain hanging hardware is black walnut, trimmed to match the entertainment center.
This is a ceremonial box for a ceremonial goblet. It is African mahogany made from the same piece of wood allowing the grain to match from side to side. The hinges hold the top open at 85 degrees. The box lining is navy blue crushed velvet. Maple keyed miters highlight the project giving it a special touch.
This item was a custom idea from a co-worker. Apparently this is a popular design, but only in metal. He wanted a wood rack. This rack is made from Sapele, a mahogany substitute. I personally like Sapele better than african mahogany. Thanks to my co-worker, I was able to get pictures of the rack holding his gun.
I can make these racks in just about any size. They feature a keyhole on the back for hanging and ash pegs for necklaces.
I have made dozens of picture frames over the past few years. The vast majority have been custom sizes that are not easily found at any store. I have made several different styles, including a Crown Molding style as well as frames made of two different woods, a large base wood with a thinner wood on top to give the look of a Crown Molding frame. With engraving available, any frame can be customized to the specific item being displayed (i.e. a year or event name can be engraved on the frame).
Here is a Salt and Pepper shaker rack my brother made for our mom. It is made of rustic cherry. My brother did a nice job on this project, and my mom has already almost filled it up. It is 32" wide (mounts well with 16" studs). The spacing between shelves gets smaller as the shelves become smaller. Overall it is about 28" tall.
Here is a serving tray my wife made. It features a Black Walnut border and handles with Black Walnut, Cherry, and White Ash used for the tray bottom. It is sealed with Mirror Coat (a two part, self leveling epoxy with a high gloss finish).
Here is a coin display. It is made from Black Walnut.
This workbench design for a neighbor of mine in Virginia. The wanted a plywood top, so i framed it in with 2x4 to protect the edges of the plywood. The two shelves underneath the bench are individual units he chose to place under the bench. They can be moved to wherever they are needed.
