A modular construction was used to help in the event we want to rearrange our family room. All three units are the same height but two are three feet long with the the TV unit is four feet long.
The two smaller units have two shelves that roll out. When the barrister style doors are open, a light comes on automatically when the door is about half recessed. One unit's shelves are designed for DVD's, the other's are just basic shelves with only a back to keep stuff from rolling off the back.
The TV unit top rolls out, giving access to the back of the TV and the components under the TV. The next shelf down also rolls out to allow access to the bottom shelf. The barrister style door is plexi-glass to allow remote controls to work and to see the components. There is a manual switch for lights that illuminate the back of the components.
This entertainment center is red oak with black walnut trim and door frames.
